About the Author

Who knew that an inability to decide on one career field meshed together with a love of books would lead to a writing career? Yep, that's how it happened for author LaCharmine (L.A.) Jefferson. In 1995, she was taking the dream life of living in Hawaii for granted when her mom sent her a copy of historical romance author Beverly Jenkins' first and second novel, Night Song and Vivid. Captivated by the breathtaking artwork on the covers and then the beautifully written stories of black love during post slavery years of Detroit--her hometown, L.A.'s first love of reading was reignited! Suddenly the sun started shining in a new light for L.A. and she received a burst of energy to put pen to paper and write a book of her own. It was then that Unfinished Business, her 2009 debut novel was conceived and her life forever changed forever. Back in Michigan, two children and a second husband later, L.A. has not only continued writing but her interests have grown along the way. While contemporary women's fiction will always be her first writing love, L.A. also writes on the topics of health and fitness, family life, and natural hair and beauty.
